You’re not alone if, when you ask how their day at school was, all you get is “fine” or a grunt. Here are some questions you can ask to get more than a one word answer about what your child has been doing all day at school:
- If you could swap seats with someone and sit next to someone else, who would it be? Why?
- What was the best thing that happened today?
- If you could change one thing about today, what would it be?
- Did anyone in your class do something funny?
- What’s the biggest difference between this year and last year?
- Can you show me something you learned today?
- What rules are different at school than what we do at home?
- Who did you play with today? What did you play?
- Tell me about 3 times today you used your pencil
- What was the hardest thing you had to do today?
- If you could be the teacher tomorrow, what would you do?
